Drug bust in Lowndes County

Residents of Hattiesburg and other nearby areas of Mississippi may want to learn more about a recent drug bust that happened in Lowndes County. A East Columbus man has charges in a raid by the DEA and LCSO.

According to The Dispatch, the man had charges that related to abundant drug and weapons offenses.

What were the charges?

He had charges of possession of methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking cocaine and trafficking marijuana. In addition to this, there were three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of possession of a stolen firearm.

They pulled him over for a traffic stop. During that time, they found an ounce of meth on him.

What did they find in his home?

After a search of his home, agents found 3.5 pounds of methamphetamine, 6.5 pounds of cocaine and about 35 pounds of pot. There were also three handguns.

All this will call for criminal defense for drugs and guns when his case goes to court. Two of the guns were stolen and more charges are pending.

Investigation over two years

People reported him, saying things were not quite right with this man. An investigation began 24 months back. They worked on and off during this time, as calls about him came into the teams.

Drug and weapon charges are the result of a massive drug bust of an East Columbus man. They found stolen weapons as well as a mixture of cocaine, meth and marijuana in his home after a traffic stop. Agents from the sheriff’s office Special Tactics Investigative Narcotics Group and the Drug Enforcement Administration were the ones to pull the man over in his car.
